International Legal Counsel Industrial Projects F/M (44401)

The role is based in Paris 15, with travel to countries where the Group operates.

Reporting to the Head of Business Law, Contracts Management and Litigation, you will be more specifically in charge of supporting the Group on a dedicated perimeter representing around 750 M€ of contracts per year, in Northern Europe, Central Africa, South America and South-East Asia, notably :

Strategic energy and raw materials contracts and consortiums securing the Group's access to the energy market (power purchase agreements, bio-carbon...), decisive energy projects (e.g. floating power plants), developing decarbonization projects (e.g. carbon capture and utilization/storage, and tailor-made industrial solutions for the decarbonization process in raw materials procurement), and strategic logistics contracts (rail, shipping...).

In addition, you will support the group in the realization of complex EPC and EPCM, brownfield and greenfield (FIDIC and NEC type) projects for the construction of mining and processing sites, port and rail facilities and power plants, as well as in the negotiation and monitoring of strategic contracts (energy, shipping, transportation, major supplies...).

Responsibilities:

 Your main responsibilities will include:

• Legal management of strategic projects and contracts in an international environment:  

• Negotiating and monitoring complex contracts,
• Training operational and contract management teams in contractual procedures and risks specific to our projects,
• Advising and assisting operational management in the application of contracts.

• Claims & litigation management :

• Working with Contract Management, anticipating contentious situations affecting the Group's projects and strategic contracts,
•  participating in the preparation and legal engineering of claims and in any related amicable negotiations,
• managing  litigation in conjunction with our external lawyers.

• Development of the Group's legal and contractual culture:

• Systematic Comparative Law analysis conducted on our production and sales countries. Risk analysis spreading within the Legal Department and dissemination to operational staff and Contract Managers.
• Improving the library of contracts templates and general terms and conditions. Training on related risks of operational staff and buyers alongside with local legal counsel and Contracts Manager.
• Implementation and spreading of the Group's contractual standards (Golden Rules).

• Assisting local Legal and Contract Management teams in the management of our daily business contracts, working on the standardization of local contracts.

Your Profile:

• With a 5-year Degree in Law, in France or abroad, with a specialization in Business or Contract Law, ideally with a degree abroad, you have solid experience of around 7 years in a similar position, in France or abroad. Experience in the construction or mining industry would be a plus.

• Experience in managing large projects (ideally experience in EPC and EPCM),
• Fluency in French and English is essential, Chinese would be a plus,
• Good coordination and teamwork skills,
• Ability to lead, dialogue and collaborate easily with people of all levels, in a multicultural context,
• Initiative and results-oriented,
• Good analytical and anticipatory skills,
• Open-mindedness and intellectual curiosity,
• Crisis management.
