As part of its development, Volton is expanding its Telecom Regulatory Compliance team and seeks for a Junior Telecom Regulatory Counsel.

The role of Junior Telecom Regulatory Counsel is a key part of our Telecom Regulatory Team. The ideal candidate for this role is someone who not only understands telecommunication regulations and landscape, but also understands the practical obstacles of implementing compliance in a complex technological ecosystem, has experience working cross-functionally to overcome those obstacles, and enjoys the challenge of it all. The position reports to the Senior Manager of Regulatory Affairs Division.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic, actionable guidance and advice, to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders on relevant regulatory aspects of the business
  • Oversee and ensure compliance with telecom regulations, rules, carrier obligations and industry standards including providing advice to product and operations teams
  • Respond promptly to requests and questions from the business and other stakeholders, including at the executive level, summarizing, and communicating regulatory requirements in a clear, concise, succinct and business friendly way
  • Collaborate with the compliance function, policy and other colleagues on regulatory engagement strategy
  • Lead or support internal and external regulatory meetings
  • Advise and support business unit leadership on the development, maintenance, and documentation of regulatory reporting requirements
  • Manage responses to regulatory communications, enforcement actions, and other government inquiries and consultations
  • Advise, influence, and coordinate the development of company views on telecommunications regulatory matters
  • Identify key regulatory risks and opportunities and champion informed risk taking and innovation


Requirements
  • 1+ years of experience in the field of Telecommunications law as an in-house, governmental or law firm advisor on the development of compliance strategies, governance, and frameworks
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law; LL.M. Degree will be considered an asset
  • Deep understanding and experience of telecom law practice and principles
  • Experience in developing, evaluating, and maintaining programs that ensure products comply with laws, regulations, carrier contracts and requirements and industry standards
  • Fluency in English, both oral and written
