ABOUT THE ROLE:
Vesta is a fast-growing software acquisitions company expanding its footprint across Europe. With several strategic acquisitions planned for Hungary and throughout the European region, we are looking to strengthen our Legal team to effectively support the integration of new businesses and maintain seamless business-as-usual (BAU) in our operations. Vesta Software Group are therefore seeking a Senior Legal Counsel, qualified in any EU jurisdiction, to join its growing legal team. This role will support Vesta’s rapidly expanding portfolio across Europe, with a particular focus on legal matters in Hungary, and will play a key leadership role by mentoring the legal team jointly with the Global Legal Counsel.
Reporting to the Global Legal Counsel, the successful candidate will contribute to complex cross-border M&A transactions and provide legal support across a range of corporate and commercial matters. You will collaborate with teams across multiple jurisdictions and offer practical legal guidance to portfolio companies on day-to-day legal matters, helping to ensure legal and business alignment throughout the group.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Working in a fast-paced environment, the Senior Legal Counsel will:
Manage M&A activity across Europe, in line with Vesta’s internal processes and legal standards.
Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial and corporate agreements.
Provide ongoing legal support to portfolio companies across, with a focus on Hungary and wider UK and EU jurisdictions.
Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments, including finance, HR, and business development.
Participate in global legal strategy and contribute to group-wide legal initiatives.
Exercise sound judgment and deliver pragmatic legal advice aligned with business goals.
Maintain legal documentation and support document management processes.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
We’re looking for a proactive, detail-oriented lawyer who thrives in a dynamic, collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will have:
A minimum of 8 years’ experience in cross-border M&A, ideally gained at a top-tier international law firm.
Legal qualification in any EU jurisdiction; qualification in Hungary or experience advising on Hungarian legal matters is a strong advantage.
Strong experience in commercial and corporate legal matters.
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills in English; other European languages are a plus.
A hands-on, self-starter mindset with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
High emotional intelligence and the ability to build trust and communicate effectively across cultures and seniority levels.
Experience in the software or technology sector, particularly with software licensing and IT contracts, is highly desirable.
Demonstrated leadership capability, ideally including coaching or mentoring junior team members.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to make high-quality decisions under pressure.
A collaborative spirit and willingness to travel occasionally within Europe to connect with colleagues and portfolio companies
