Join us as a Legal Counsel & Regulatory Affairs Officer

  • We’ll look to you to deliver our legal strategy, working with stakeholders and legal colleagues to ensure the efficient delivery of all issues, projects, and initiatives either directly or through a team
  • You’ll support the delivery of our strategic objectives by contributing to regulatory affairs and decision-making forums, providing coordinated and consistent professional support and advice
  • This role offers considerable stakeholder engagement, as you’ll advise the business, and manage external advisers and other stakeholders to successfully deliver legal matters and projects on a timely basis

What you'll do

As a Legal Counsel & Regulatory Affairs Officer, you’ll provide legal and regulatory affairs support and advice to various boards, committees and the business.

You’ll also:

  • Support with the delivery of all legal and regulatory issues, projects, and initiatives aligned to our legal strategy
  • Provide professional, proactive, and timely advice and training on regulatory affairs and meeting procedures
  • Contribute to the refinement of regulatory processes in order to improve communication and drive the simplification agenda

The skills you'll need

We’re looking for someone with knowledge of general banking law and practice along with an understanding of the legal and regulatory environment and potential issues within the business area. You’ll have significant experience in the financial services industry, with a track record of stakeholder management and the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues.

Along with strong legal  skills and experience of organising, working with, and motivating professional teams, you’ll have excellent presentation capabilities and the ability to produce comprehensive and clearly structured minutes and briefings. You’ll also have the ability to recognise issues of strategic, legal, or reputational importance, and to evaluate or direct how they should be addressed and resolved.

As well as this, we’re looking for:

  • Experience as a regulatory lawyer and a detailed understanding of listed companies or financial services
  • Knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment pertaining to large, complex financial services organisations and experience of working with the ECB and on EU regulations
  • The ability to challenge others and assert views when required
  • Professionalism when interacting and communicating with people at all levels across the organisation including the executive office
  • The ability to manage highly confidential information in a discreet and professional manner
  • The ability to multitask, anticipate problems, and react quickly to changing priorities
  • Dutch legal qualification
