Over the past decade, we have picked the best components of the European ecosystem and created a self-service-based and highly automated company management solution that enables our clients to focus on creating value to their business whilst we take care of the administrative part. Xolo has an international team of over 100 professionals who are all dedicated to our mission: making solopreneurship better than employment.
đź’ˇAbout the role:
We’re looking for a Legal Counsel that is excited about expanding across different jurisdictions and figuring out “legals” for different product-related challenges. You will be advising our Product and Compliance teams on legal and compliance requirements, liaising with external advisors, but most importantly, helping to build a stand-alone legal function in Xolo.
Xolo is on a mission to help freelancers do their business across the EU - this will bring challenges that will constantly change and evolve as we figure out best ways to support our clients. We are looking for someone that has a “problem-solving” attitude to understand and find solutions to complex legal questions. It would be helpful if you have prior experience related to corporate, AML, GDPR or tax law, or you have advised / worked for startups before.
✍️As a Legal Counsel at Xolo, you will:
- Assist us in figuring out product legal requirements for expanding into new markets;
- Advise us on how to assist our clients with their corporate matters;
- Keep an eye on upcoming regulatory and legal developments;
- Draft, review and negotiate all types of legal documents starting from customer agreements and policies to vendor agreements;
- Advise and help our AML and GDPR teams with interpreting relevant guidance, implementing and improving internal processes and risk management procedures;
- Establish legal processes, such as contract management, compliance tracking, and due diligence procedures;
- Work with professionals across Growth, Product and Engineering teams and learn how a startup works from inside out.
🔎You are the one we are looking for if you:
- Have legal expertise or strong interest in areas relevant to our industry, such as corporate law, AML, data privacy, taxation, and financial partnerships.
- Enjoy working on a global scale with international regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements.
- Get excited when given a chance to identify and assess legal risks and create strategies and processes to mitigate them.
- Have a strong interest in global expansion to new markets, assessing and mitigating risks associated with it, and establishing processes for compliant operations.
- Don’t get disheartened when you immediately don’t know the answer but rather get excited to own and then solve the problem.
- Have worked in a law firm, startup or financial services industry before.
