We are seeking a Legal Counsel with strong contract drafting and review skills, and the ability to identify contractual risks. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting business development and growth at this stage of the Company by providing clear, practical legal guidance. As a member of the Legal & Compliance department, you will handle primarily cross-border contracts in English, ensuring compliance with regulatory, internal, and third-party obligations while helping the business navigate contractual and legal risks effectively.

No two days are the same in Legal! If you are a motivated, detail-oriented individual who is eager to engage with all areas of the business and its evolving projects, you will play a critical role in delivering legal support across multiple functions within our organisation.

As our Legal Counsel you will be: 

• Provide comprehensive legal support to the Legal & Compliance department, including legal research, drafting legal and business communications, and managing legal documentation.
• Draft and review a wide variety of contracts, including service agreements, reinsurance treaties, and NDAs. Most contracts are simple in structure but cross-border in nature, requiring precision in drafting and awareness of jurisdictional nuances.
• Identify and assess contractual, legal, compliance, and regulatory risks, and provide practical recommendations to mitigate them.
• Prepare legal briefs, memoranda, internal opinions, and correspondence.
• Support third-party due diligence and risk assessment processes.
• Develop internal policies, templates, and training materials on relevant legal and compliance topics.
• Help enhance and maintain the legal and regulatory framework to ensure compliance with internal standards and external requirements across the group.

• Holds a university degree in Law from Spain or another recognized European institution. Postgraduate legal qualifications (e.g., LL.M., Master’s in Business Law or Compliance) are a plus.
• Has a minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in a law firm, consultancy, or in-house legal department including corporate legal experience.
• Has proven experience drafting and reviewing legal documents in English, ideally for cross-border transactions.
• Demonstrates a strong ability to identify and evaluate contractual risks and propose clear, commercially sound solutions.
• Has working knowledge of the insurance or financial services industry (IDD, Solvency II, GDPR familiarity is a plus).
• Communicates clearly and confidently in English (C1 level or higher); Spanish or other EU languages are an asset.
• Is detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic, cross-border environment.
• Brings strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, and enjoys working collaboratively.
• Is proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel.
