Job Description

The business area European Wind and Solar (E) is responsible for the development and ownership of wind and solar assets in Europe. Wind and Solar activities in Poland consist currently of relatively early phase wind, solar and power storage development projects. In addition, our Markets area (M) is active in Poland, engaging in various activities related to energy trading and renewable energy certificates.

The Legal Counsel is responsible for advising the development team on a wide range of legal topics, with a focus on the development of early stage solar, wind and power storage projects. The Legal Counsel assists all relevant business areas in complying with local legislation and Group policies. The right candidate may have the opportunity to assist in the Markets area, such as with negotiations of long-term corporate power purchase agreements (PPAs).

You will be reporting to the Head of Legal Continental Europe and you will:

  • Negotiate and support agreements (e.g., co-development, joint ventures, shareholder agreements, term sheets, purchase agreements, contracts, NDAs) for renewable energy and power storage projects;
  • Advise on energy and administrative law, regulatory frameworks, support schemes, and permitting processes (e.g., grid connection, environmental decisions, building permits);
  • Negotiate ancillary agreements (e.g., land and easement rights, interconnection and facilities sharing agreements, EPCs) for renewable energy projects;
  • Ensure compliance with corporate governance, internal policies, and processes;
  • Support and govern the Polish portfolio of companies in coordination with business teams;
  • Draft, negotiate, and manage long-term corporate PPAs and related documentation, addressing complex regulatory matters;ย 
  • Manage efficiently external legal counsel;
  • Liaise with internal teams (e.g., Senior Management, HR, Finance, Business Development, Project Delivery, Construction) and provide legal training;

Qualifications

  • Qualified lawyer with several years ofย experience in Poland.
  • Excellent academic background and experience gained in top tier international/local law firm or similar in-house role.
  • Expert knowledge of administrative and energy law.
  • Excellent communication and technical drafting skills.
  • Fluent in English and Polish.

Preference for candidates with:

  • Transactional experience in the renewable energy and infrastructure sector.
  • Experience in drafting and negotiating relevant transaction documents.
  • Understanding of compliance matters.
