Description

We are looking for a motivated, proactive and detail-oriented Junior In-House Legal Counsel to join our legal team and support the legal and contractual aspects of our offshore cable laying and protection projects. The role will focus on contract review and negotiation and administration of both client and subcontractor agreements. This position is ideal for a qualified legal professional with a keen interest in contract law and the offshore energy industry.

 Responsibilities

·       Tender Administration, Contract Drafting and Review

  • Review and advise on tender documentation to ensure compliance and alignment with company standards.
  • Monitor contract execution to identify areas where changes may affect commercial or contractual aspects.
  • Maintain accurate records of contractual correspondence and legal documents.
  • Prepare supporting documentation for tenders, contracts, claims or commercial negotiations.
  • Negotiate contract terms with clients and subcontractors, safeguarding the company’s interests.
  • Provide legal support on corporate matters and internal governance

·       Variation Orders & Contract Amendments

  • Administer main contracts and subcontract agreements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Draft, prepare, and support the negotiation of variation orders based on technical changes and scope alterations.
  • Ensure variations are contractually justified and documented in accordance with contract terms.

·       Stakeholder Coordination

  • Act as the interface between project management, engineering, procurement, cost control and legal teams on contract matters.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across teams to ensure smooth contract execution
  • Liaise with clients and subcontractors for contractual discussions and clarifications.

·       Risk & Compliance

  • Identify potential contractual risks or exposures and escalate as needed.
  • Ensure all processes comply with internal policies and external contractual obligations.


Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent. A Master’s degree or relevant legal certification is a plus.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in contract law, preferably with exposure to construction, offshore, marine, or engineering sectors. Experience in tender review, contract negotiation, and contract administration is highly desirable. Strong understanding of contract law and commercial documentation.
  • Strong understanding of contract drafting, negotiation and administration principles.
  • Familiarity with commercial contracts, subcontract agreements, and corporate governance
  • Proficient in legal research and document review
  • Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Proactive and solution-focused mindset
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong ethical standards and professional integrity
  • Willingness to learn and develop within a growing international company
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
  • Proficiency with MS Office (e.g. Word, Excel, SharePoint, etc.).
  • Familiarity with FIDIC, BIMCO, IMCA or NEC contract forms.
